A review of our new demo "Chapter III" is available on the canadian rock site Metal Rules.

Denied, these melodic and groovy sounding metallers from
Stockholm,Sweden, have come back with new tricks and threats. The band has always suffered, more or less, from some line-up changes over the years, but every setback has its meaningful
purpose, I guess.

CHAPTER III, as the title for this ´old-new´ 3-track offering from Denied goes, the purpose of this recording is obviously to introduce the band´s new vocalist and frontman to the world; Johan Fahlberg, who also takes care of vocal duties in the German heavy metal band called Jaded Heart.

By the word combination ´old-new´ I meant that Denied have re-recorded 3 of their old songs ripped out from their previous 2 albums for this promotional release, just to introduce basically how Johan fits into the band´s leather boots vocally.

Well, it's no surprising news to most of us, but Johan´s got a very good and powerful voice, much like their previous singer Jari did have a great voice as well. In that sense Denied has made a right decision to hire this guy for the new vocalist of the band – and these 3 old Denied songs have also got some brand-new charm to them, too – sounding positively more updated and kinda refreshed versions as well.

Straightforward, melodic, groovy and heavily riff-based modern heavy metal is still the name of the game for this Stockholm-based metal act Denied – and ´hidden potentiality´ are the band´s two new middle names from now on.

Nothing else to be reported from Denied´s direction this time. Labels attention: Catch them!

"DENIED, a swedish band founded in 2003 by Andreas Carlsson the guitarist, can be proud to have succeeded with the integration of Fahlberg(ex-SCUDIERO and nowadays in JADED HEART) to their line-up!

Since the first release composed of demos and titled 7 Times Your Sin in 2005, and with the coming of Robert Stellmar and Pete Dolls, plus in 2008 with their second release New Army For The Old Revolution, I notice that DENIED has worked hard!

Chapter III is ready for the(Melodic)Heavy Metal scene, a choice/orientation wished by DENIED since their start in 2003. People who has been offended by the course of events in Sinister Mind by JADED HEART, I dont think this EP is something for them, because it is a very loud bomb of Heavy Metal!

Just three songs compose Chapter III: 7 Times Your Sin(7 Times Your Sin's album), The Black Room and Lesser Son(The New Army For The Old Revolution's album). As I've said, the add of a loud but melodic sound with Falhberg's voice is for me a good recipe. This can be interesting for the fan, searching after Melodic Heavy Metal without keyboards. Maybe,
7 Times Your Sin is the less stronger song, which can be listened to by "brave people" who wants to try these three songs!

Many bands as DENIED has been created, however this guys has integrated a really great vocalist: a nice challenge! Some web radios, webzines has acclaimed the talent of DENIED. Rock Meeting is the next one to do it!

After hearing the three song EP or demo from Sweden's "Denied", I'm already convinced these guys are onto bigger things. Everything I like in my Power Metal is here, big hooks, gang shouting, blistering solos and crunchy guitars, thundering drums and bass, and a vocalist who can tear it up. They also have "something" that sets them apart. The music is pretty dark and has more of a groove, in other words, it sounds like a modern version of the Classic Metal sound.

Guitarist Andreas Carlsson's guitar sound is menacing, dark and heavy. New Jaded Heart vocalist Johan Fahlberg has some great range, but he's also got a nice scratch to his voice that make him sound a big more sinister. Pete Dolls on drums and Robert Stellmar on bass are provide "Denied" with a steel backbone and help tie everything together.

While I admit they're not doing anything completely ground-breaking, they are putting their own mark on a Power Metal scene that sometimes lacks in imagination. I think the little things this band is doing will set them apart from the wave of Power Metal coming out of Europe.

"Denied, a band from Stockholm Sweden, recently recorded their 3 track demo with new vocalist Johan Fahlberg (from the German band Jaded Heart). The first thing I thought when I heard Denied with Johan as vocalist was, this sounds exactly like Saxon. But when you listen longer you hear that this is not Saxon, but something heavier and I really like it. The voice of Johan Fahlberg is darker/lower than the voice of Biff Byford (Saxon)and the music from Denied is more straight ahead.

No pianos of industrial/electronic sounds. Just straight fast metal. It is remarkable that Denied only has one guitarist, but while listening to the band you don’t hear that. I still hear a strong guitar sound, and I think that is worth a compliment. With this line-up Denied has something in hands that can make the band big!"

"Through Myspace.com I discovered DENIED, who now has Johan Fahlberg (Jaded Heart), a famous and strong singer, in the band. The band has sent me three songs, and I am a little surprised that they actually are old songs, from their first two albums. They've now remade the songs favoured with Johan Fahlberg's vocals. Let's start with "Lesser Son", the first track. Strong guitar solo, awesome beat, all played in the classic heavy metal style - strong. The way a real metal song should sound. "Seven Times Your Sin", has a faster beat. A passed "Double bass" and Johan Fahlberg shown from his best side.

The guitar played by Andreas Carlsson is really a class of it's own. Strong and technical like PRIEST, but Johan sings deeper, which is preferred. "The Black Room", which from the beginning was released on 2008's Output "The New Army For The Old Revolution", sounds way better in the new version, but is still the weakest of them three. But to sum it up; whom who seeks an alternative to Priest or similar bands should listen to DENIED. US Metal from Scandinavia sounds really good! We'll see if the band will throw us a whole album soon. I sure hope so! // Markus Riedelsheimer

"Are we being serious here?!?! How can such bands pass unnoticed and are still unsigned? There's something wrong here and I'd advise all the labels to stop releasing crappy albums that sound identical to one another and try to find bands with balls and a personal approach to music. Such a band is DENIED from Sweden and all I can say is that I'm simply stunned by the three songs I've had the pleasure to listen to here. One other thing I need to say is that from this point on I'm seriously a DENIED fan and I'll be following their every move! These three songs reveal a band with passion and dynamics that is able to deliver a personal and recognizable sound. The foundation of their music is thrash metal, but they fuse and mix it with classic heavy metal forms and modern touches. Furthermore their song "Black Room" has a strong SAVATAGE essence and it's so beautiful that I'm sure SAVATAGE would definitely want it in their discography! These songs are pure headbangers showing the band's skills, that are top notch, and presenting to us an amazing singer with incredible vocal abilities. This demo is a pure killer!!!! Get your hands on it immediately!!!"
